Project Overview
Our client sought to maximize their property’s potential by constructing a detached ADU that balanced modern efficiency with timeless Spanish Revival aesthetics. Creative Building Solutions managed the entire lifecycle of this build, transitioning from a raw timber skeleton to a fully realized, character-rich guest house.
Technical Highlights
This build required a meticulous eye for both structural precision and specialized finishing techniques:
- Engineered Framing & Decking: The project began with robust OSB sheathing and precision-engineered roof framing, ensuring a level, durable foundation for the specialized roofing loads to follow.
- Custom Architectural Millwork: We designed and installed three bespoke heavy-timber corbel systems to support the window and door awnings. These structural accents provide the deep shadows and rustic charm essential to the Mediterranean style.
- Integrated Masonry & Roofing: The roofline and awnings feature authentic S-tile terracotta masonry, expertly flashed to ensure a lifetime of weatherproofing.
- Artisanal Stucco Application: Moving beyond a standard finish, we applied a hand-troweled, textured white stucco with sweeping “Spanish Lace” patterns, paired with high-contrast bronze-finished windows and a heavy, iron-studded “Speakeasy” entry door.
